ANNIE PATE, 98 of Weirton, WV passed away Thursday June 30, 2016 at The Inn at Wyngate, Weirton, WV. She was born August 17, 1917 in Dennison, OH. She was the daughter of the late Dominico and Anna diBernardo Barnabei. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Amerigo "Emery" Pate (2009).
Annie was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. She was known for speaking her mind and was happiest in her kitchen, taking care of her home, visiting friends and family or having them visit her("no need to call first"). She never tired of telling stories of living during old, hard times with her siblings and parents, putting emphasis on lessons learned at that time. Being the oldest girl, she often became a mother figure to her brothers and sisters. In mid-life, she joined her husband in his recycling campaign which led to having garage sales and meeting new people. She and Emery were known as the walking hand in hand couple. Her later, leisure years saw a return to crocheting.
Surviving are one daughter, Sister Josephine Pate, CSJP of New Jersey; two sons, John Pate, and Amerigo "Ams" Pate Jr.(Joyce), all of Weirton, WV sister; Lillian Rusczkowski of Weirton, WV.
