Gene Pilling Obituary
GENE A. PILLING, 65 of New Cumberland, WV passed away Wednesday March 8, 2017 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born August 1, 1951 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. He was the son of the late Merle and Myra Poad Pilling. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Clark Pilling.
Gene was a member of the Weirton Heights Church of Christ; an avid golfer; devoted Green Bay Packer fan; and one who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Gene retired in 2003 from the strip steel department as a pipefitter at Weirton Steel Corp.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Taryn "Terry" Stephen Pilling; daughters, Heather Stewart (Dean), Erin Sohyda (Nick) of Mt. Lebanon, PA; sister, Debra Tielking of Terra Haute, IN; grandchildren, Elijah Dean Stewart, Riley Cole Sohyda, Cassidy Reese Sohyda, Abigail Grace Sohyda, Nicholas Harry Sohyda.
Visitation will be Friday March 10, 2017 2-4 & 6-8 at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV where the funeral will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Steve Smithbauer presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Weirton Heights Church of Christ, 3169 Pennsylvania Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062 OR Tony Teramana Cancer Center, 380 Summit Avenue, Steubenville, OH 43952.
