IRENE TROIA, 89 of Weirton, WV passed away Monday July 4, 2016 at the Weirton Medical Center. She was born August 13, 1926 in Rillton, PA. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen Cykovski Havey. Irene was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Virgil J. Troia (2003), sister, Helen Paulisick; brothers, Michael, William, John Havey.
She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. A graduate of West Liberty State College/Bachelors in Education, West Virginia University/Masters in Reading Certification. She was also a member of the National, West Virginia, and Hancock County Education Associations, Three Score Seniors, Alpha Delta Kappa/Fidelis Gamma Chapter, AARP, Hancock County Association of Retired School Employees. She retired in 1989 from the Hancock Board of Education as a fourth grade teacher at Broadview Elementary School.
Surviving are her brothers, Charles Havey of Spanaway, WA and Franklin Havey of North Huntingdon, PA; sister in laws, Diana Rusinovich (Stanley) and Philomena Troia, all of Weirton, WV; niece, Carol Hutchinson (John); nephews, Anthony Havey (Lorna), Robert Havey, Anthony Troia (Denise), Tom Troia, Dan Troia, David Troia (Connie), Ted Troia (Judy), Ernie Troia (Karen), Stanley Rusinovich (Joanne), Paul Rusinovich (Jodi), Steven Rusinovich.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 6, 2016 9:30 until time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Reverend Tony Thurston will preside. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph the Worker Church Memorial Fund, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, WV 26062.
