ANTHONY LOUIS LOMBARDI, 44, of Weirton, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 21, 2026. Born on October 18, 1981, in Steubenville, he was the beloved son of Terry Karas of Weirton.
Anthony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Erma Lowe Lucero.
Raised in Weirton, Anthony attended St. Paul Elementary School, where he was brought up in the Catholic faith and proudly served as an altar boy. From an early age, he demonstrated both athletic and academic excellence. He played baseball in the Paris Termite League and soccer in the Northern Panhandle Youth Soccer Association recreational and travel leagues, later giving back to the sport as a youth referee. Anthony continued to shine both in the classroom and on the soccer field at Brooke High School, graduating in 2000 before attending Bethany College on a soccer scholarship.
After a college injury ended his soccer career, Anthony followed a proud family tradition by pursuing work on the railroad, like his grandparents and mother before him. He spent 13 years working as a conductor and engineer for Norfolk Southern Railway, taking great pride in his work. He later joined Window World as a design consultant, where he became a top-performing salesman.
Anthony embraced life wholeheartedly. Intelligent, driven, and endlessly curious, he earned his HVAC certification before graduating high school. His love for soccer continued through years of participation in adult leagues, but music became one of his greatest lifelong passions. A self-taught guitarist, Anthony devoted countless hours to mastering his craft, eventually finding particular joy in playing the upright bass. He loved all genres of music and rarely missed an opportunity to attend a live concert.
Anthony was a man of deep faith, remarkable charisma, and genuine kindness. He never met a stranger and had a unique ability to make lasting friendships wherever he went. Whether he was shooting pool at a local bar, hunting with friends in Middlebourne, discussing wine and craft beer, playing music, or traveling cross-country by train, Anthony brought energy, humor, and warmth to every experience. His bright spirit, generous heart, and unforgettable smile will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Anthony is survived by his devoted mother, Terry Karas, whose life centered around her beloved son; his cherished cats, Ping and Lacey, who adored their “Cat Dad”; his lifelong best friend since second grade, Christina Yeager Glosser and her husband, Aaron; and their daughter, Brianna Glosser, whom Anthony proudly called his goddaughter. He also leaves behind countless friends and loved ones whose lives were enriched by knowing him.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 29, from 4:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton.
