Beatrice Jones, 84 of Paris, PA, beloved wife and mother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in Steubenville, OH. Bea had battled complications from dementia and strokes for several years.
Bea was born in Steubenville, Ohio in August 1939 to the late Albert and Thelma Moredock. Beatrice (Bea, Bea Lou) is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert, sister Ria Sobolewski (John), and her three beloved children Belinda Raiders (Jim), Robert, and Brian (Rachel).
As a child, Bea delivered newspapers in Weirton (one of the few girls to do so). She graduated from Weir High School in 1957. After high school, she worked a downtown dress shop and then the Weirton Steel office before her marriage to Robert in 1959 at Paris Presbyterian Church.
Bea was a long-time member of Paris Presbyterian Church and in 1963 became the church secretary. While employed as secretary, she also served as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, and choir member. After 47 years, Bea retired from her position as church secretary in 2010. Paris Church dedicated a nursery, nicknamed the “Bea Hive,” in honor of her years of service.
Her greatest joys were her family, including 6 grand-children and 6 great-grandchildren, reading books by local authors, watching Pittsburgh Pirates baseball, Steelers football and serving Paris Presbyterian Church.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Monday, November 13th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home on Penco Road in Weirton, WV. The service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00am, with a short viewing beforehand starting at 10:30am.
In Lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Paris Presbyterian Church’s Bea Jones Memorial Fund, 127 Steubenville Pike, Burgettstown, PA 15021.
