Eunice J. Safreed

EUNICE J. SAFREED, 100 of Weirton, WV passed away Sunday September 4, 2016 at Weirton Medical Center. She was born March 31, 1916 in Joetown, WV. The daughter of the late Okey and Hattie Beatty Shaw. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Forest McIntire (1973) and Russell Safreed (2006); sister, Iris Morris; brother, Forest Shaw.

Eunice graduated from Mannington High School. Past accomplishments include serving as president of Edgewood School PTA; President of Follansbee High School band parents; Past Worthy Matron of Weirton Chapter No.147, OES; member of First Christian Church. Eunice was always busy driving children to band practice or piano lessons, entertaining at card clubs, & being active in her church. She also loved reading, playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, needlework, and playing bridge. Eunice was honored by Weirton Medical Center with having volunteered over 1000 hours of service through the auxiliary.

Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Griffith (Harry) of Germantown, MD; stepsons, Richard Safreed (Sara Lou) and Thomas Safreed (Cathy), all of Weirton, WV; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandson.

Visitation will be Wednesday September 7, 2016 4:00-7:00 p.m. at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV where the funeral/committal services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Kevin L. Bowers presiding. Interment will be in Highland Hills Memorial Gardens, Follansbee, WV.
