GRACE E. BUNNER, 99, of Weirton, WV, passed peacefully at home Thursday, March 27, 2025. She was born October 4, 1925 in Pursley, WV, daughter of the late James and Mary Elvira Forrester Shuman. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bunner (1981); daughter, Linda Bunner-Tustin; son, Larry Bunner; a grandson and 12 siblings.
Grace was Christian by faith and was raised in the Church of Christ. Those who know her best described her as "a kind soul" or "a sweet soul". She enjoyed cooking, gardening, keeping house and visiting with family and friends. She also took up photography later in her life. She loved birds, butterflies, and flowers -- especially roses -- and her signature large earrings and colorful clothing. Her favorite holidays were Christmas and Thanksgiving, which would see her host a standing room only dinner in her humble, but never too small, home. Her large heart always made up for the small house. Her greatest purpose in life was taking care of her family and friends, who she loved dearly. Her most cherished memories were of a home full of loved ones gathered for special occasions. Her other favorite holidays were Halloween and April 1st, which would unleash her inner child-like prankster. Her favorite songs were "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" which attest to her deep and abiding faith.
Grace is survived by her daughter, Judith Bunner; sons, Roger (Mary) Bunner, Mark Bunner, and Mark (Kelly) Murray; son-in-law, Willard Tustin; several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and sister-in-law.
A celebration of Grace’s life will take place in the future. She will be interred next to her husband at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, WV.
