Greta G. Billham

GRETA G. BILLHAM, 83 of Weirton, WV passed away Tuesday August 8, 2017 at Valley Hospice Care Center North, Steubenville, OH. She was born October 20, 1933 in Steubenville, OH. She was the daughter of the late James E. and Katherine Fitzmaurice Mitts. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Betty R. McDonald and Virginia Bell; brother, James Mitts.

Greta attended Steubenville public schools, West Virginia Northern Community College, and West Liberty State College. She was employed by the Weirton Christian Center as a kindergarten teacher for 12 years at the Lions Club outpost and the Brightway outpost. She retired after 18 years of service from the Brooke County Board of Education as a supervisory aide at Millsop Elementary School. Greta was a 50+ member of Cove Presbyterian Church where she served as an Elder, a Trustee, and taught Sunday school and vacation bible school for many years. She was a member of the Bell Choir of the church; the SHS Alumni Association; past president of the Williams Country Club Ladies Golf Association; past member GFWC Weirton Women's Club. An avid reader and bridge player. Greta loved to travel. She and her husband made over 300 trips to Vienna, VA area to enjoy time with family, and she had been a resident of The Villages, FL for 12 years.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Donald R. Billham, whom she married March 22, 1952; son, Donald L. Billham (Linda) of Weirton, WV and their daughters, Debbie Welch (William) and Becky Carlisle (Dr. Dave), as well as six great-grandchildren; daughter, Diane Gongaware (Richard) of Vienna, VA and their children, Kathryn and Paul.

Visitation with the family will be Friday August 11, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street, Weirton, WV with Dr. J.E. Rudiger presiding. Inurnment will be at a later date at Union Cemetery, Steubenville, OH. Per Greta's wish, cremation arrangements have been entrusted to STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Weirton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in Greta's name to, Cove Presbyterian Church, 3404 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
