H. Daniel Wolverton

H. DANIEL WOLVERTON, 81, of Weirton, WV, passed Friday, December 12, 2025. He was born September 14, 1944, son of the late Harold Gibson Wolverton and Geraldine Glenda Nicholson Wolverton. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Deanna Wolverton Antigo; sister, Helen Hoge; brothers-in-law, James Hoge and Carl Keister.

Dan graduated from Weir High School, Class of 1964. He is a US Army Veteran who served in Germany and Vietnam during the Vietnam War. It was there that he was awarded a Purple Heart for his service. He was a member of the Hancock County Sportsman’s Club, NRA, and the Vietnam War Veterans Support Group. He was a member of the Kings Creek Union Chapel and attended Weirton Heights Memorial Baptist Church where he grew up.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon Chipps Wolverton; son, Daniel Wolverton (Sara); grandchildren, Courtney Antigo Destefano (Joe), Anthony Antigo (Megan), Austin Wolverton (Cheyenne), Selena Queiroga (Jeff), Xavier Wolverton (Bailey), Hattie and Jamison Wolverton; great grandchildren, Emmett Wolverton, Whitley Wolverton, Addie, Gracie, Kaylie and Brylie Antigo, Sofia Destefano, and Mila Queiroga; sisters, Judy Keister and Glenda Kelley (Dennis); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 16, 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm, at Steel and Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, where the funeral will take place Wednesday at 11:00am with Rev. Bill Stout presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, where military funeral honors will be rendered by US Army and American Legion Post No. 10 Honor Guards.
