Herman Capito Obituary
Herman F. Capito, 97, of Weirton, WV passed away Thursday September 1, 2016 at Serra Manor. He was born April 23, 1919 in n Weirton, WV. The son of the late Louis and Mary Susicke Capito. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Viola "Vi" Kemp Capito; brother, Joseph Capito.
Herman was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church where he also was a member of the Holy Name Society; a US Army AirCorp, WWII veteran; a life long member (60+ years) of Weirton Rotary where he was a Paul Harris Fellow; B.P.O.E. No. 1801, Moose Lodge No. 1688, Knights of Columbus No. 3734; an avid golfer, bowler, bridge player. He was a former member of Pleasant Valley County Club for over 50 years. Herman was a retired co-owner of Louis Capito & Sons of Weirton along with his father and brother for 55 years.
Surviving are his daughters, Cheryl Smith of Tampa, FL, Donna Paul (James) of Colliers, WV, Cynthia Heyl (Jack) of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Cara Bryan (Tom), Gregory Smith, Amanda Bowers, Derrick Paul, Sara Jamshidian (Ram), Samantha Heyl, Ross Heyl; five great grandsons.
Visitation will be Friday September 2, 2016 5:00-8:00 p. M. At STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 3721 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, WV with Reverend Larry Dorsch as celebrant. Military funeral honors will be rendered by American Legion Post No. 10 and the WV Honor Guards. Entombment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Church Memorial Fund, 140 Walnut Street, Weirton, WV 26062 OR Weirton Museum & Cultural Center, 3149 Main Street, Weirton, WV 26062.
