HOLBERT F. CORDELL, 80, of Weirton, WV, passed Sunday, January 5, 2025 at Valley Hospice, Steubenville, OH. He was born May 14, 1944 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of the late Harold C. Cordell and Margaret E. Beavers Cordell.
Bert, as he was fondly known, was a decorated US Army Veteran who served a combat tour during the Vietnam War. He was a kind and humble man who valued his privacy, and went on to have a long career as a lithographer for the Continental Can Company and Crown, Cork and Seal. Bert shared his appreciation of wildlife and the outdoors with his children and instilled in both of them his unwavering work ethic and dedication to family. Bert had an overwhelming love for his dogs, who were constantly by his side, which came second only his immense love for his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce McLaughlin Cordell; daughter, Heather Lee (Travis); son, Shawn Cordell (Shawn); 4 grandchildren, Brittley Terry (Justin), Ryan Lee (Seren), Jason Lee and Taylor Lee; and 3 great grandchildren.
Per Bert’s wishes, there will be no visitation at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Weirton, WV. Military honors and inurnment will take place at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA, in the near future.
