Jack Games Obituary

JACK ROGER GAMES, 91, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. He was born August 19, 1934, in Glen Dale, WV, the son of the late Jack Wilbur Games and Eleanor K. Patton Games.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Elizabeth Dzera Games, in 2012; his son, Gary “Gig” Games, also in 2012; and his grandson, Richard “Ricky” Clark.

Jack grew up in Glen Dale and was a graduate of John Marshall High School. On March 26, 1955, he married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Dzera, at Saint Columbkille Church.

Known for his strong work ethic, Jack spent many years working as a pipefitter at Weirton Steel Corporation before retiring after 35 years. Never one to slow down, he continued working well into his 80s at the Starlight Club, American Legion Post No. 10, and Anile Pharmacy. He often shared stories about starting work at the young age of six and proudly said he never stopped working. His generosity and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Jack was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. He was a life member of the Weirton Moose Lodge No. 688, a social member of American Legion Post No. 10, and a member of the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. In his free time, he enjoyed following West Virginia University athletics and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his loving children: Kathy Ann Petroski (Carl) of Rockbridge, OH; Frank Wilbur Games of Steubenville; Jack Richard “Rick” Games (Fran) of New Cumberland; and Patrick Mark Games of New Port Richey, FL. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Franky Games, Nicole Solow (Nick), Kaycee Lawless (Brian), Cory Games (Jade), Kevin Games (Rachel), and Tanner Games; and great-grandchildren: Paytyn, Evyn, Aydyn, Raiden, Kendall, Mason, Ben, Bo, Raelynn, and Liam. In addition, he is survived by his brother, Lloyd Pat Games (Karen) of Moundsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, March 13, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, with Rev. Fr. Tony Thurston presiding. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, where Jack will be laid to rest beside his beloved Mary.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Paralyzed Veterans of America, P.O. Box 758589, Topeka, KS 66675-8589.
