James D. Chafin

JAMES D. CHAFIN, 83, of Weirton, WV, passed Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Valley Hospice, Steubenville, OH. He was born November 14, 1940 in Steubenville, OH, son of the late Cecil and Evelyn Ogle Chafin. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Mae Yates Chafin (2015); and his brother, Thomas Chafin.

James worked in the Strip Steel Dept. of Weirton Steel as a Rigger. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed boating, fishing and attending auctions. Growing up in the fabulous 1950s lead to his love of classic cars, and his ownership of two 50th Anniversary Thunderbirds.

James is survived by his daughter, Christine Wade of Colliers, WV; granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Georgetti, FNP-BC (Shane); great-grandson, Nico Georgetti; and grandson, Jacob Christopher Wade (Carli Lightner), who assisted his grandfather in his business for many years. 

Visitation will take place Sunday, August 11, from 5pm to 7pm and additional visitation Monday from 10am until time of service at 11am, at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, with Rev. William C. Stout presiding. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
