John J. Aftanas, Jr.

JOHN J. AFTANAS, JR., 90, of Follansbee, WV, passed Friday, November 15, 2024 at Weirton Geriatric Center. He was born December 22, 1933 in Louise, WV, son of the late John J. Aftanas, Sr. and Katherine Wydra Aftanas. He is also preceded in death by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

John was a US Army Veteran. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation as a Pipefitter and Foreman. John was Catholic by faith.

John is survived by his loving wife, Frances Sue Mark Aftanas; sons, Bruce Aftanas (Tammy) and Jeffrey J. Aftanas (Melanie); grandchildren, Megan Warner (Ryan), Drew Aftanas, Paul Aftanas, and Jordan Aftanas; and great-grandsons, Bradley, Owen, and Cole Warner.

No visitation will take place at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Weirton. Inurnment and Military Honors will take place at National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville, PA in the near future.
