JONATHAN J. MARTIN, 50, of Gibsonton, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born on April 4, 1975, in Weirton, the son of Manford Martin and JoAnn Patterson Orr.
At a young age, Jonathan was diagnosed with leukemia and given a grim prognosis. True to his determined spirit, he refused to accept those limitations. After a long and courageous battle, he overcame the disease, though he remained wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life. Jonathan never allowed this to define him. Instead, he chose to live fully and purposefully.
He graduated from Kent State University and went on to build a successful career as an architect. Jonathan later moved to Florida, where he found great joy in frequent visits to Disney World and Universal Studios. He was a devoted fan of Star Wars and took great pride and pleasure in caring for his bonsai trees.
In addition to his parents, Jonathan is survived by his brother, Jamison Martin of Wheeling, West Virginia, and his sister, Melissa Midcap (Brent) of Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Private visitation will be held at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home in Weirton. Interment will follow at Fort Steuben Burial Estates in Wintersville.
