Kamel Thomas Obituary

KAMEL "COOKIE" THOMAS, 82 of Weirton, WV passed away Friday February 3, 2017 at The Laurels of Steubenville. He was born August 17, 1934 in McKeesport, PA. He was the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Anthony Thomas.

Cookie was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, Order of AHEPA, former longtime member of Weirton Lodge No.171 F. & A.M. He was a doting father and grandfather. Cookie was a US Army veteran. He was an avid bowler for many years, having been the assistant manager of the former Steel Valley lanes. He was a fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams. Cookie retired as a payroll clerk at the General Offices of Weirton Steel Corp. He was also a union steward.

Surviving are his beloved wife of over 58 years, Helene Mucy Thomas; daughters, Kim Thomas of Pittsburgh, PA, Danielle Thomas (Steven) of Georgetown, PA; sons, Albert Thomas of Charlotte, NC, John M. Thomas of Weirton, WV; granddaughter, Bailey Thomas; brothers, Daniel Thomas of Weirton, WV, Elias Thomas (Shirley) of Wichita, KS.

Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday February 5, 2017 at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV. Trisagion service Sunday at 3:00 p.m. followed by the Order of AHEPA service. Additional visitation will be Monday 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3528 West Street, Weirton, WV. Rev. Fr. Frank Milanese will preside. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
