I. LEROY ANDERSON, 93, of Paris, PA, passed Friday May 24, 2024 at Weirton Medical Center. He was born July 13, 1930 in New Cumberland, WV, youngest son of the late Ernest and Grace Ferrell Anderson. He is also preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years, June Irene Smith Anderson (Jan. 2019); son, Robert Ivery Anderson (Jan. 2024); grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson and Robert Anderson; brothers, Paul Anderson, Charles Anderson, and Ernest Anderson; and sister, Margerette (Sis) Gibson.
Leroy was a member of Paris Presbyterian Church. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation as a Railroad Engineer. Leroy was a member of Richard Vaux Lodge No. 454 F. & A.M., 32nd Degree Mason, and received an honor for 60 Years of Masonic Service.
Leroy started and coached the Paris Raiders Baseball Team. Leroy was an avid golfer and never missed his Tuesday morning tee time at Beaver Creek Golf Course before the sun came up. In fact, from age 76, Leroy prided himself on being able to hit his age at least once every year and he played well into his late 80’s.
Above all else, Leroy was a family man. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Leroy is survived by his sons, Gary Leroy Anderson (Becky) of Weirton and Eric William Anderson of Paris; daughter-in-law, Renee Anderson of Weirton; grandchildren, Scott Anderson (Jamie), Brandon Anderson (Naghma), and Chris Anderson (Jenna); great grandchildren, Skylar, Haleigh, Colton, James and Jackson.
Visitation will take place Tuesday May 28 from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, with Rev. Larry Barkley presiding. Interment will follow at New Cumberland Cemetery.
