LOUISE A. ZUZA, 93, of Weirton, WV passed Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Weirton Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1931 in Detroit, MI, the only child of the late Anthony and Mary Kucharski Gorski. Louise is also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Zuza (1991).
Louise was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Louise worked at Isaly’s and Village Dairy in her younger years. In her 60s, Louise loved volunteering at Weirton Geriatric Center and enjoyed feeding and helping the elderly living there. She went on to become a caregiver for many elderly through the years. In fact, she still received Christmas cards from several families of loved ones that she cared for decades ago.
Louise was an avid Pirates fan, through the good and bad years. She could recite the players and their individual stats. When she was unable to watch games, she was sure to listen to it on the radio.
Above all else, Louise’s biggest accomplishment was her beloved family. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. She loved spending time with them. She taught them how to cook traditional Polish recipes like cabbage rolls, nut cookies, and bobalki. She doted on each and every one of them. She was the best mentor.
In her later years, Louise enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Even in her 90s, Louise kept up with technology and her family; often spending time on her iPad, winning Words with Friends, and liking/commenting on Facebook.
Louise leaves behind her beloved family, who owe her everything they have in their blessed lives. Surviving are her children; son, David Zuza of Florida; daughters, JoAnn Jamison (late Roderick) of Weirton, Marilou Tucker of New Cumberland, Kathy Weithman (Dan) of Westerville, OH, and Sandra Lang (late Rudy) of Weirton; grandchildren, Dan Jamison (Joyce), Tonya Zuza, Karla Miller (Jeff), Marcy Zuza, Danielle Stroud (Jonathan), Joe Zuza (Rachel), Jonathan Sharot, Joshua Lang, Zachary Lang, Jenna Weithman, and Luke Weithman; 9 great-grandchildren; her childhood best friend, who’s friendship has lasted 87 years, Carmen McBride; and Godchildren to many, including Kevin Zuza (MaryKathryn) and Carol June (Michael).
Visitation will take place Sunday June 30, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday July 1 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 229 California Avenue, Weirton, with Very Rev. Dennis R. Schuelkens, Jr. V.E. presiding. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery, Weirton.
