Mary Jo McBee

MARY JO McBEE, 73, of Weirton, WV, formerly of Philippi, WV, passed unexpectedly Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She was born May 25, 1951 in Philippi, daughter of the late James Tillison Martin and Joan Lake Martin. She is also preceded in death by her brother, James Tillison Martin, Jr. (May 2024).

Mary Jo grew up in Philippi and graduated from Philip Barbour High School. She fell in love with and married Robert L. McBee on December 12, 1969. After getting married, Mary Jo and Robert moved to Franklin, WV, where they lived from 1970 until 1981, when they moved to Weirton. She worked for most of her life at PNC Bank, Great Southern Branch in Bridgeville, PA, where she became Manager and eventually Vice President before retiring. Soon after, Mary Jo realized she did not enjoy retirement. She started working for Achieva several days a week at the Pittsburgh Air Reserve Base, spending her time transporting passengers. She also enjoyed trips with her husband to Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family, especially her beloved grandsons.

Mary Jo is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert L. McBee; daughter, Angela Evans (Michael); grandsons, Alexander and Andrew Evans; her sister and best friend, Margaret Ann Carney; brothers, Tom Martin (Cindy) and Rick Martin (Diane); sister-in-law, Roann Martin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will take place Friday, May 9 from 4-7pm, at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton. Additional visitation will take place Monday, May 12 from 10am until the time of service at 1pm, at Wright Funeral Home, 220 N. Walnut Street, Philippi. Interment will follow at Mary’s Chapel Cemetery, Philippi.
