MATILDA “TILLIE” KOLOSKY, 101, of Weirton, WV, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was born December 25, 1922 in Bellaire, OH, daughter of the late Antone and Maria Tasovac Zurich. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Walter Kolosky (1986); sister, Mary Joyce; grandchildren, Michael David Elliott, Frankie Jezierski, Jay Jezierski, and Shauna Kolosky; and great-grandson, Devon Jezierski.
Tillie was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was active in Christian Mothers. She was also a member of Weirton VFW Post No. 2716 Auxiliary, AARP and Three Score Seniors. Tillie loved receiving and sending greeting cards. Often known as the “Greeting Card Lady”, she would jokingly say, “When I get to the Great Beyond, I’m hoping for a Card Shop!”
Tillie is survived by her loving family: daughters, Vickie Jezierski and Walda Elliott (Mike); sons, John Kolosky (Jolene) and Joe Kolosky (late Dorie); grandchildren, Brian Jezierski (Dusty), Chris Kolosky, Joey Kolosky (Amanda), Jonathan Kolosky (Amanda Dulaney), Mathew Elliott (Milly), Diane Mazzella (John), and Denise Elliott-Smith (Josh); great-grandchildren, Alex, Frankie, Jaylynn, Logan, Chase, Sierra, Arias, Niyah, Jayus, Michael, Allison, and Reagan; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and niece, April Komorowski (Wally).
Visitation will take place Monday, September 2, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 140 Walnut St., Weirton, WV,
from 10am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11am, with Rev. Fr. Binu Sebastian presiding. Entombment will take place at Highland Hills Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Paul Catholic Church Renovation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, WV.
