Maxine W. Blankenship

MAXINE W. BLANKENSHIP, 92 of Weirton, WV passed away Friday June 9, 2017 at Valley Hospice, Steubenville, OH. She was born September 13, 1924 in Weirton, WV. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Isabelle Robinson Hans. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Norell Mac Blankenship (2015); five sisters; six brothers; grandson, Zachary Allen Recht.

Maxine was a member of the Weirton Heights Church of Christ. Maxine was a "Rosie the riveter" during World War II at Weirton Steel, where she was also a forklift operator as well as a flatbed truck driver. She was the last of the Hans children to pass away.

Surviving are her daughters, Mary Ellen (Dr. Keith, M.D.) Recht of Martinsburg, WV, Nancy Ann (James) Conley of Weirton, WV, Ruby Jean (Kevin) Richards of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Adam Blankenship Recht of Inwood, WV, Alison Micah Recht of Leesburg, VA, Patrick Fleming Conley of Columbia, KY, Brian James Conley of Weirton, WV, Amy Marie Conley of Weirton, WV, Megan Elizabeth Richards of Jacksonville, FL, Bethany Rae Richards of Boulder, CO, Kyle Lee Richards of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren, Hunter Ryan Sweat, Isaac James Sweat, Logan Walters, Jacob Brian Conley, Wyatt James Conley Ashlyn Rose Conley, all of Weirton, WV, Dylan Alton Conley of New Cumberland, WV, Slayton Conley of Columbia, KY; also two great great grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Sunday June 11, 2017 at the STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV from 5:00-7:00 p.m. where the funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Evangelist Steve Smithbauer presiding. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
