Rachel Ann Shawver

RACHEL ANN SHAWVER, 41, of Elkhart, IN, formerly of Weirton, WV, passed Saturday, March 21, 2026. She was born May 3, 1984 in Steubenville, OH, daughter of Lorie Courtney (Jerry) of Weirton, WV and the late Joseph “J.D.” Shawver, Jr., who passed in 2007. She is also preceded in death by her grandparents.

Along with her mother, Rachel is survived by her sons, Christopher B. Evans (Gianna Chafin), Sky R. Bocek (Sydney Nutter), and Joseph R. Bocek (Kiah Smith); grandchildren, Xaria Smith and River Bocek; siblings, Logan Shawver (Alisha Workman), Tess Courtney Taflan (Josh), Chloe Courtney (Adam Boggs), and Robbie Shawver; grandmother, Janice Yatsko; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; all of whom will miss her amazing laughter and love.

Rachel was loved by everyone she met. She would try to help anyone who struggled, even though she struggled daily herself. Life was hard for Rachel and now she will be able to rest with her dad and everyone she loved and lost along her way.

There will be no visitation at this time. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Elkhart Cremation Services. Rachel will be laid to rest with her father at St. John Cemetery – Haven of Rest, Colliers, WV. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, Weirton, WV.
