Rebecca Ann Winwood

REBECCA ANN WINWOOD, 64 of Weirton, passed away Friday September 15, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Boardman, OH. She was born May 3, 1959 in Wheeling, WV. She was the daughter of the late W. Lee and Lillian Rickus Marcellus. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Valerie Cox; brother, Jefferson Marcellus; an infant brother; and her beloved yorkie, Gigi.

Surviving is her loving husband of 41 years, Brad D. Winwood, of Weirton, WV; son, Douglas E. Winwood (Danielle), of Wadsworth, OH; daughter, Allison M. Smurthwaite (Christopher), of Medina, OH; grandsons, Harrison Bradley Winwood, Landon Kenneth Winwood, and Graham Renshaw Smurthwaite; sisters, Brenda (Charlie) Witt and Paula Marcellus; brothers, Bernard Marcellus and Christopher (Darcy) Marcellus; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rebecca was a 1977 graduate of Wheeling Park High School and graduated from the B.M. Spurr School of Practical Nursing as an LPN. She had a true passion for helping people. She worked as an LPN for Good Shepherd Nursing Home and St. John’s Hospital. After raising her young children, Rebecca became a dental assistant for Dr. Wesley Pate, DDS, of Weirton. After leaving the workforce, Rebecca enjoyed reading, playing word games and cards, and taking family vacations. Her favorite pastime though was spending quality time with family, especially her three grandsons who knew her as “Mom-Mom.”

Visitation will be Wednesday September 20, 2023, 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home, 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV where the funeral will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Elder Roger Criss presiding. Interment will follow at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA.
