REVEREND MARY YVETTE "BETTY" M. SHAW, 99 of Weirton, WV passed away Wednesday July 20, 2016 in Grand Haven, MI. She was born October 24, 1916 in Houtzdale, PA. The daughter of the late Rev. Dr. Arlie R. Mansberger and Mayme M. Smith Mansberger. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William "JW" Shaw(1993); sister, Ruth E. Shearer.
Betty was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, GFWC Weirton Womens Club, Alpha Delta Kappa Delta Int. Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma Int. Sorority, Brooke and Hancock retired teachers Assoc. Betty served as Pastor of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church for 10 years, Supply Pastor for many churches. Served as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, principal in Hancock and Brooke County schools. Teacher; Dunbar and Cove schools; Principal-Hooverson Hts. Elem. school.
Surviving are her daughter, Mary Linda Kittleman (Ross) of Grand Haven, MI; sister, Vivian Tarr (late Floyd); brother, Dr. Arlie R. Mansberger, Jr. (Ellen); grandchildren, Shaw Evan Kittleman (Heather), Joshua Brehm Kittleman (Sarah); great grandchildren, Jensen Andrew Shaw Kittleman, Paige Brooklyn Faith Kittleman, Ethan Joshua Kittleman, Asher Brehm Kittleman, Jonah William Kittleman; nieces/nephews, Pat Wilson (Dick), Susan Jones (Terry), Richard Shearer (Candace), Dr. Leigh Joseph (David), Dr. Jack Mansberger (Shelley), Pamela Tarr (Gary Hart), Andrew Tarr, Theresa Tarr, Sandy Austria (AL and daughter Julia); friends Ron and Tina Greer.
Visitation will be Wednesday July 27, 2016 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 3721 Main Street, Weirton, WV. Additional visitation will be at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church on Thursday from 10:00 until time of the funeral/committal services at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Carol McKay will preside. Interment will be in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery, Florence, PA. Memorial contributions are suggested in Betty's name to Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, 101 Lisa Court, P.O. Box 2482, Weirton, WV 26062.
