William DeLong Obituary
WILLIAM C. DeLONG, 87 formerly of Weirton, WV passed away Saturday February 11, 2017 at Dixon's of Wintersville, OH. He was born May 7, 1929 in Klondike, OH. He was the son of the late Clarence S. and Loma E. Davis DeLong. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 62 years, Betty L. Shingleton DeLong (7/3/2010); son, James Michael DeLong; brother, Gary L. DeLong.
Bill was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, Bloomfield, OH; 25 year club member of Weirton Steel; for many years he operated a taxidermy business; trained Cur dogs, earning many awards and accolades; he made jewelry out of turquoise, leather, and antlers. He retired from National Steel Corp./Weirton division, in the BOP and open hearth as a steel pourer.
Surviving are his daughters, Linda DeSanto(Pete) of Steubenville, OH, Cheryl Robertson of Helena, MT; sons, John DeLong of Ellenton, FL, Terry Stephen DeLong (Linda) of Bethel Park, PA, Rev. Paul Joseph DeLong (Connie) of Weirton, WV, Samuel Carlos DeLong (Beth Ann) of Follansbee, WV; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 2:00-4:00 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday February 15, 2017 at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 380 Penco Road, Weirton, WV where the funeral will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Paul J. DeLong presiding. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Bill's family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Dixon's for their care and compassion shown towards Bill.
